Amman, Jordan 10K

Sore, sweaty, and I taste like salt. Why? Well I somehow convinced myself that running a 10K this morning through the streets of Amman would be a good idea.
It was quite the experience.

There were about one to two thousand people running this 10K; including men, women, children, and even individuals in wheelchairs.
Six of us ran it, all at our own pace, while others sprinted, ran, or walked. I ran with a group of two or three 14 year-olds who would tell me to keep going if I slowed down, stopped if I stopped, and cheered me on the whole way. It was priceless.
I guess that is kind of how life is though: no one can run it for you but you. People will pass you, and you will pass others. You push yourself, but sometimes you just need to walk. Some people sprint up hills while others jog, yet thankfully the hills are always followed by rewarding flat ground or a decline. However, we are never alone. In fact we often have people cheering us on, strangers and loved ones alike.

So just keep running, try to get better, and remember that everyone eventually makes it to the finish line. Showers and food afterwards also help.

  2. Way to go Jordan, how great you ran and finished the 10K very impressed. You and Lauren can start running together some day.
